Book One of the Superstars Trilogy, Evil Rises: An Excerpt #6

Barn

A brutal and chaotic scene taken from Chapter 17:

As he dialed 911 back in the house, Brent heard the roaring boom from his dad’s shotgun. He became frantic as he told the 911 operator about the situation and pleaded for her to send an ambulance out to the ranch, because Brent heard three more booming blasts from the shotgun during the call. Panicking, he told the operator that he did not know the extent of the injuries, but that he had to go. He hung up the phone, grabbed the 9mm pistol from its case on the top shelf of his dad’s bedroom closet and raced out the door to the barn. Not having heard anything since the last shotgun blast, he yelled out his dad’s name, asking if he was alright as he headed for the barn doors. Hearing the sirens of what had to be the sheriff and ambulance approaching; he bolted inside the well-lit barn and immediately wished that he hadn’t. The pungent smell of gunpowder, mixed with the normal smells of the barn, was overpowering. When he reached the open door to the pen immediately to his left as he walked in the barn, he confronted an image that would be seared into his memory for as long as he lived. His dad lay in a crumpled heap on the pen floor, his head was spun completely around backwards, looking up at him, his swollen eyes reflected the horror he must have seen before he was killed. Then he saw Mel, lying on his back dead, his lifeless eyes staring straight up at the ceiling.

Book One of the Superstars Trilogy, Evil Rises: An Excerpt #5

Catholic Church

The introduction of another of the main character in the series, Father Thomas O’Sullivan:

He had stood at the doorway of the church office holding his two suitcases, about to descend the stairs and get into the waiting car belonging to the church deacon who would take him to the airport, struggling to find the words to say goodbye to Father O’Malley. A profound sense of sadness that he would be leaving this church so suddenly weighed down his soul. There was no joy in his heart at being dispatched to Rome. Father O’Malley placed his hands on either side of his shoulders, squeezing them in reassurance, and regarded Thomas with a sense of pride before he spoke.
“Do not be discouraged, Thomas. Whatever that letter contains, or whatever the purpose for summoning you to Rome is, I am sure it is God’s will. The Church needs you, Thomas, for a great purpose. Serve your Lord, Thomas, with your complete heart, mind and soul. I look forward to the day when you will come back here to this humble church and visit an old retired priest. Will you do that for me?” Father O’Malley smiled as he embraced Thomas, giving him a final hug.
“I will, Father. You have taught me well, and I will take your passion to serve with me, and instil it into whatever plan God has for me. You are a great man, Father, and you’ve been like a real father to me. I look forward to the day of my return, to sharing a cup of tea and making you laugh at the many stories I’ll be able to tell of adventures in our beloved Rome.”

Book One of the Superstars Trilogy, Evil Rises: An Excerpt #4

0000071957_20

The introduction of one of the main characters, Avery Johnson. He is a powerful and influential music producer in Los Angeles and will soon be placed into the middle of the thunderstorm of popularity and controversy as the manager and producer of the superstar rock band, Vasallus. Here is the excerpt from Chapter 6 of Book One of the Superstars Trilogy, Evil Rises:

It was almost midnight when Avery finally left the office at Alive Records. “What a day”, thought Avery. He was exhausted. Once he got Tick Tock into the studio, it all kicked in with precision. For all his faults, Tick Tock was still a professional when it came to his music. He worked his tail off, redoing the takes over and over, overwhelming the studio musicians, but between him and Avery they made it work. The album was in the bag and ready for final editing and production. The first single, “Hunted,” featuring Spanish singing sensation Adora, would be released for radio airplay within a few weeks. He and Tick Tock would begin shooting the “Hunted” video shortly after that.
He guided his BMW down Santa Monica Boulevard towards his modest condo on North Havenhurst Boulevard in West Hollywood, only five minutes away from Alive Records. He was thinking about his phone conversation with the editor of Music Talks magazine. To appease Avery, to whom he made it very clear he had zero obligations, he would grant Avery and his record company an exclusive interview for the magazine, showcasing Alive Records as one of the most significant record labels and music producers in the industry today. He claimed that it was an article already being planned, so Avery would have gotten a call from them regardless. Yes, today was a good day; the smile on his face was drawing stares from other motorists.

Book One of the Superstars Trilogy, Evil Rises: An Excerpt #3

Devil_Kazuya_by_Dark_AngeL_21

Excerpt #3 takes readers away from the ancient time of 400 A.D. and into the modern era. Superstars is a trilogy so readers are left wondering when they read Book One, Evil Rises how does the prologue fit into the story. You have to read the entire series to see how it all comes together. That is the beauty of a trilogy, especially an epic story as big as Superstars. In this excerpt, a young couple introduced in Chapter 1 from Venezuela are viscously attacked by Satan. Readers get their first glimpse at the brutality of the demon. Here is the excerpt:

Pain flashed throughout her body, as she tried to absorb what this creature had just said. “I’ve been chosen…chosen for what? God, please just let me die,” Marie pleaded silently. She glanced at the headless corpse of Rafael only a few feet away. The enormity of the scene caused her to flinch and retch. She vomited and then began to sob uncontrollably. She had made him his favorite meal just a few minutes ago and now he lay dead and mutilated. Their dreams of starting a family together were gone. “Why is this happening?” she questioned her God silently. A sickening sound brought her attention back to the beast.

The entire room darkened, except for a soft glow surrounding the creature, terrifying her as she now beheld it standing on its hind legs with its arms extended to the ceiling. The temperature dropped to almost freezing, chilling her to the bone. With his head reared backwards, the beast began to speak, almost in a whisper; steam escaped his nostrils as he spoke, barely audibly and in a language she did not recognize. It almost sounded like Latin?

Book One of the Superstars Trilogy, Evil Rises: An Excerpt #2

persians---melophoroi

A great ending to the prologue of Evil Rises. The prologue is set in 400 A.D. and centers around an epic battle between King Tiridates, his seven sons and Satan. Satan’s quest to end the spread of Christianity in Armenia fails miserably and sets the tone for the remainder of the story in the Beast’s obsession in destroying mankind once and for all. Here is the excerpt:

Satan would learn to mask his spirit and hide his intentions from the Lord, just like He had done to him so masterfully. He would destroy mankind someday. He knew it would be generations before he had the chance again. The anger flowed through his spirit like a tidal wave. He could sense the spirit of God dancing around him and all over his beast-like body, celebrating His love and grace for His beloved mankind. It made the anger swell inside of him so powerfully that the Beast looked up into the heavens and roared.

King Tiridates, his sons, and the thousands of surrounding soldiers in the battlefield, were drawn to the roar of thunder coming from beyond the hillside. It sounded like a raging storm was coming upon them, but Tiridates knew better. Looking at his sons, he said: “Come, let`s get your men back home to their families”.

Book One of the Superstars Trilogy, Evil Rises: An Excerpt

2314-Battle_of_Gaugamela_Persian_army

An excerpt from the Prologue, Part 1: King Tiridates prepares his armies to battle their enemies controlled by Satan

“General, there is one more message from the King,” the officer stated, handing Abgar the second scroll. Abgar unfurled the scroll and read the second set of instructions. Its contents left him aghast. His father wanted him to march his remaining soldiers around the Tigris to the west where it ends and then south, straight into the mouth of his enemy. The enemy soldiers would be marching towards Armenia, not expecting to see Abgar’s army for days. They would be unprepared and caught off guard, giving Abgar and his men an opportunity to inflict heavy losses. They would be on the high ground when they confronted the armies from Parthia. The 50,000 soldiers would be vulnerable to the arrows that would rain down on them from above. His father had instructed the division headed by his son Davit to march east towards Abgar. He would then turn south into Parthian at Nisibis and flank the under siege and retreating Parthian army, trapping them in the crossfire of Abgar and Davit’s archers.

Abgar was to send the weakest soldiers not to meet up with Davit’s division, but to march at once northwest to fortify the fort at Tigranocerta. There the soldiers would have the protection of the castle walls while they regained their strength. Once the victory was achieved against the Parthians, Abgar and Davit’s soldiers would march directly north across Armenia to join his brother Maxim and his armies positioned along the Iberian border. All of the other brothers and their armies, if they survived their battles, were to join the rest of the divisions gathering on the Iberian border. The mother of all battles would take place on Armenia’s northern border.

Next: Satan, watches as King Tiridates, empowered by God, shreds his armies and ending his chance to cut off the head of Christianity for good.
